From 25 March to 1 April, we hosted our Erasmus partner schools in Augsburg for the first time. A full programme awaited the pupils from Romania and France and their teachers. The Spanish partner school had to postpone their visit due to a strike and was here from 4 to 11 May – just in time for Europe Day!
After arriving at their host families on Saturday and Sunday, the students were ceremoniously welcomed to the Freie Waldorfschule Augsburg on Monday 27 March. As hosts, we have gone to great lengths to offer the students a week-long programme that is as exciting as it is informative. One in which you not only learn new things, but one in which you can also get actively involved yourself. Our guests worked on mind maps, were welcomed at Augsburg City Hall, got to know innovative places and projects such as Blumenthal Castle or the UBZ at the University of Augsburg at first hand and took part in a guided tour on the topic of water. Before our guests returned home on Friday, the students were able to participate in three different workshops on Thursday. A cooking workshop with recipes from the four partner countries envolved, the construction of an insect oasis for the kindergarten of the Freie Waldorfschule as well as the construction of two raised beds for a inner city playground. All were well received and produced wonderful results.
Stay tuned to find out what our Spanish stragglers did in Augsburg, what issues they dealt with and what they experienced on Europe Day!
