Erasmus: Workshop “Insect Oasis”

Many of the little animals that buzz around our noses in summer have an important function. Insects are indispensable pollinators and help maintain the natural cycle. However, many species of insects are severely threatened because they lack habitat. Due to ongoing construction and sealing of land, as well as the use of pesticides and insecticides, the habitat for insects is becoming smaller and smaller. Insect hotels can help compensate for this loss and provide insects with a suitable habitat. In one of the workshops offered, the Erasmus group was therefore able to build an insect oasis for the kindergarten of the Freie Waldorfschule and thus become active for insect protection themselves.
In addition to this workshop and a cooking workshop students were also active in building two raised beds.
