The students of I.E.S. Aljada offered a tour of their city giving informations about the Saint Eulalia Ancient Wall, the Market Las Veronicas, the Cathedral and the Casino of Murcia.
Then we got a guided tour of the Museum Las Claras.
Santa Maria la Real Convent was built by taking advantage of part of the structure of the Alcazar Seguir, an 13th century Moorish palace. Before there had been on this site an even older Arabic palace which was built around 1145 and served as a residence outside the borders of the town. In 1128 the King Ibn Hud built a new palace right above the old one. In 1365 this palace was converted in a convent of the Poor Clares.
The museum comprises the Santa Clara enclosed convent and the archaeological and architectural remains of old royal palaces, both Moorish and Christian. Inside there is a section of art and archaeology from the time of Al-Andalus. Highlights include the courtyard with the water basin and the Moorish ornaments of the arches.
After that last visit, it was time to say goodbye.
